Practitioner Information

“There are two great days in a person’s life-the day we are born and the day we discover why.”
-William Barclay

Perspectives Practioner Information

Ongoing professional development is expected. This can be attendance at workshops focussing on both the content of the counselling sessions (see focus of service) as well as methods used in discussing these matters. Attendance at Conferences provides opportunities for learning about the latest research and networking with colleagues.

Practitioners are expected to have formal, contracted regular supervision to support themselves and their work, and also to provide accountability. Videoing is encouraged as a way of providing transparency and increased self awareness.

Informal networking and meeting with colleagues keeps practitioners up to date with referral sources and ways they can work more effectively with clients.

Practitioners are expected to belong to a professional association and keep up to date with the information provided.

Encouragement is also given to writing and researching (see Publications).

Currently Perspectives has one practitioner. There are plans for including other practitioners in the future.

Clients who use Perspectives can expect their practitioner to be:

  • Professional
  • Knowledgeable
  • Skilled
  • A respectful listener
  • Compassionate
  • Warm
  • Non-judgemental
  • Ethical
